Liébart-Régnier ‘Les Sols Bruns’ Brut Champagne
Just delicious Grower Champagne. Ever had a Grower Champagne? If you have, you know, they’re the best. Unlike those Grande Marque Champagne houses with which you’re familiar, (Moët, Veuve Clicquot, Taittinger, etc.), Growers grow their own fruit. Grande Marques don’t. Growers then make their own wine from their select grapes. The rest of their juice, if they have any, they sell to the Grand Marques. Subsequently, Growers are much, much more artisan in their approach and their juice is singularly delicious.
Liébart-Régnier is a family-owned winery located in the Vallée de la Marne region of Champagne. Established in 1960, the winery has been passed down through generations, maintaining a strong commitment to traditional winemaking practices. The estate spans 11 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir grapes. There are 3 grapes wineries can choose when making their Champagne: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. They can use all or some of those grapes as a recipe for their bubblies. This Liébert-Régnier uses 60% Pinot Meunier, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. We love Pinot Meunier. It gives the Champagne a real toasty/brioche character. That level of complexity melds beautifully with the fresh flavors of just picked, crisp, Granny Smith Apples. This bubbly is a delight. It is everything you want from Champagne.
