Coeur de Terre Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon
It’s funny, you always want to talk about the intriguing stories that comprise the folks in the wine business. Stories that capture the romance and beauty of the place. So here goes: Scott and Lisa Neal moved to Willamette, Oregon in 1998. They opened a winery making very good Pinot Noir. They love each other. Done. That’s it; that’s the story. They’re boring. No sword fights for family land or whispers of cousins from back east strongarming local breweries for free pints. Nope, just good juice from good people. Boring can be great.
Coeur de Terre (heart of the earth) is located in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. The winery employs organic growing practices. It’s all about the pristine environment in which the grapes were raised. Once you taste this juice you will instantly understand why this is a stunning Pinot Noir upon which you can always count. I so enjoy this wine as it’s always solidly enjoyable. Just fantastic Pinot Noir.
Serving suggestion: Open and stick in the fridge for 20 minutes. That tiny bit of coolness will mute the alcohol and allow you to more fully enjoy the fruit. Nothing more to it than that.
Pairing notes: Pinot Noir can pair with so many dishes. Chicken, pork, lamb and duck love Pinot Noir. Fish too; salmon especially. Yet anything with mushrooms is stunning. Pinot loves mushrooms!
