Cep Pinot noir

$34.99

The dramatic Sonoma Coast is home to California’s best Pinot Noir; it’s Pinot Noir’s happy place. The coastline offers a cool growing climate with foggy, chilly mornings and sunny afternoons. The soils are meager so the vines work their asses off to produce exceptional fruit. Pinot loves that struggle, and that fight turns into deliciousness.

Cep is all about capturing that coastal terroir. They are do it exceptionally well as they are the same family which owns Peay Vineyards. They’re a family-run operation in the tiny town of Annapolis on the far northwest edge of the Sonoma Coast.

Peay’s team focuses on biodynamic and organic farming, with winemaker Vanessa Wong bringing serious craft to each bottle. Man does she craft a wonderful wine. This bad boy is fresh, expressive, and a little jaunty around the edges in the best way. You’re not getting a heavy, jammy red here. This is Pinot with a refined swagger. It hits with bright, energetic red fruits of cranberries and raspberries. Those fruits are balanced by delicate floral notes of violets and wild herbs with an oh so subtle wink of jasmine tea. Just a fantastic bottle of Pinot.
